The Historical Fan/Fiction Double-Standard:

When it’s bound in a paperback and sold in stores, written primarily by men about historical figures, no matter how many liberties that are taken or how fictionalized, or how many noncanon straight romances are shoved in, it’s called historical fiction and is acceptable.

When it’s free on the Internet, written primarily by women about historical figures, no matter how many liberties are taken or how fictionalized, and especially if it involves a queer perspective, it’s an insult to real life (dead) people and they should be ashamed of themselves.
